Optimo was launched by Bryan Hooper in 2009 to provide a cost effective alternative to New Zealand’s existing real estate model for home sellers.

Frustrated by feeling disempowered as a vendor and at the cost of selling his own properties, Bryan embarked on a quest to research ways to put vendors in the driving seat where they could lead their own sales process and reap more financial rewards.

Bryan researched a new model for eight years before launching Optimo. He looked at real estate models in Australia, the UK and the US and talked with professionals skilled in customer service, sales and the real estate industry to research and develop a unique new model for the New Zealand market.

“We wanted to put control and better return back into the seller’s hands. We thought there must be a better way.

I looked at the services provided by New Zealand agents and then how we could enhance those services by utilising technology and other property professionals, and at the same time, save sellers thousands of dollars.

The result is a model that gives vendors control of their sales process, transparency and flexibility, and since 2009 Optimo has assisted hundreds of New Zealanders to sell their own homes their own way.

People don’t buy houses because they are listed with a particular agent or promoted in a particular print; they buy houses because they are for sale. Optimo lets buyers know the home is for sale by displaying the home where buyers look.
